Whether you are traveling by plane, train, car, boat, or bus, there are lots of money-saving deals military members can take advantage of.
Amtrak – Active duty military personnel, their spouses, and dependents can save 10% on the lowest available rail fare on most Amtrak trains, including the Auto Train. They also allow uniformed military personnel to go to the head of the ticket line.
Greyhound – Active duty and retired military personnel and their dependent family members can travel on Greyhound anywhere in the continental United States for a maximum fare of $235. Military families can also receive 10% off the Greyhound walk-up (unrestricted) fare.
U.S. Airways – Military personnel who are traveling on an officially excused absence can receive special rates. Discounts are also available to discharged personnel with seven days of discharge. In addition, children and military dependents are eligible for special fares.
Alamo – Military personnel can enjoy special car rental benefits and rates when traveling on tour-of-duty orders or for leisure.
ACE Rent A Car – Men and women in the armed forces can receive a 15% discount at several offices throughout the United States.
Princess Cruises – This cruise line offers up to $250 free onboard spending money for active, retired or disabled military personnel, as well as veterans.
Norwegian Cruise Line – Military members and their families can save up to 10% on select cruises.
Alaska Airlines – Active duty U.S. military personnel and U.S. military dependents with travel orders can check up to 5 bags for free.
Royal Caribbean – Royal Caribbean offers special cruise rates on selected sailings for military personnel.
As you can see – it pays to do some research before making your reservation! And if you don’t see special military travel deals published online, it doesn’t hurt to ask. Many of the best discounts are unadvertised. Bon voyage!
